Henry's first day with us

Meet Henry, our new labrador puppy. He is 5-1/2 weeks old (born January 22, 2012) and was ready for his new home. Although we can tell he misses his mom, dad, two brothers and two sisters, we know he likes us and feels a little bit at home (he's already peed twice and pooped once in the house).

It was love at first sight with Henry. All five of the puppies are beautiful, with these gorgeous snouts and big block heads but Henry just stuck out. His wrinkly face and large puppy paws drew us to him immediately. And he was mellow. His youngest brother was not and the other brother is already destined for another family. We knew we wanted a boy pup, so with Henry as our chosen name, it was meant to be.

Our children adore Henry and are ecstatic that I, aka: Mom, love him too since I put off having a dog for so long. My husband has wanted a dog since before we were married. I kept saying no; three children and a husband to care for is a handful. But now, our youngest is almost five and I always said, "When James is five, I'll think about it." Well, although James is not five yet (he's 4-1/2), we were all ready and the timing was right. And thus, Henry became part of our life. As I type this post, Henry is asleep in his crate, all cozy and warm with a blanket our son gave him. I can hear him breathing much like a little human. He's a sweet puppy and we are looking forward to watching him grow and making memories. He is the perfect addition to our family.
